This year's annual tour of some of Vallejo's grand old homes is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 11. But their owners can't claim to have the oldest house on its original site. That distinction may be held by a cottage that's far from grand. The little yellow house at 218 Carolina Street shows up on two old maps that depict Vallejo's streets and structures as they appeared in 1856. None of the homes on this year's tour, with architectural styles including Italianate, Queen Anne, Craftsman, Spanish Revival and more, existed at the time.
